To our Customers, Dealers and Contractors:
I hope this letter finds you and your family well.
This is an extremely difficult time to be a leader running an organization. Forces that are outside our immediate control have dramatically affected all of our businesses. We are doing everything in our power to keep our customers and employees safe by implementing NO-TOUCH order procedures, cleaning our facilities regularly and having our people work remotely.
I want you to know that every Peirce-Phelps branch remains open and is here to support you. We currently have $50 million of HVAC equipment, parts and supplies in stock and ready to serve your needs. In addition, all of our marketing programs are in full force to help drive your business with the consumer.
This week we released a new Mobile APP, Peirce-Phelps HVAC Assist, which provides you the ability to process warranties, place orders, look up price, view product availability and many other functions remotely. Watsco and Peirce-Phelps will continue to expand the functionality of this APP to make doing business with us easier, faster and safer for your employees. More importantly, we want to make sure you have the information and resources you need to make sure your business survives this crisis and is poised to thrive once again once it has passed. There are many Small Business Association loans that are now available to help keep your business running. Under certain criteria these loans can be converted to grants and forgiven. Below is a link to the SBA funding site giving you information on how to apply and obtain one of these loans. I have also put a link to a presentation that provides a good summary of how the loans work. I highly recommend you explore these options fully. There are over 1400 banks across the country that can help process these loans. They may prove essential in providing your company with needed cash flow.

COVID-19 Update 1

To the Customers, Vendors and Friends of Peirce-Phelps, LLC:
We are continuing to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and look for ways to minimize and mitigate its impact to our employees, customers and the entire Peirce-Phelps community. The situation has become especially serious in Pennsylvania, as many of the State’s services have been restricted or closed in Montgomery, Delaware and Bucks Counties. Our goal is to protect our employees and their families while maintaining service to our customers during this difficult time. We understand that you rely on us for providing the products you use every day and that HVAC is an essential service to the health and wellbeing of our communities. We are doing everything in our power to provide those services to you during this crisis as we closely monitor the recommendations from our government leaders, the CDC and other healthcare agencies.
The following steps are being implemented in an effort to keep our employees and customers safe.
- We have asked our sales staff to avoid in-person meetings or customer visits. We will be maximizing the use of conference calls, Zoom video meetings and the telephone. Our salesforce will respect any customer’s wish not to have in person meetings during the crisis.
- We have increased our stock levels to ensure availability in the case any vendor encounters production delays or shortage.
- We are only permitting customers, employees and essential personnel into our branches. We are asking vendors to contact branch personnel by telephone.
- We have asked all of our delivery personnel to practice social distancing. We have instructed each driver to disinfect his or her signing monitor regularly. If a customer feels uncomfortable signing the pad, we have asked the drivers to take a picture of the person receiving the order as proof of delivery.
- We are encouraging all will call customers to use our proactive order management system. Place your orders ahead of time by phone, fax, PPI APP or the Peirce-Phelps on line web order portal and we will have your order staged and ready for easy and quick pick up. Your personnel can bypass the counter and have minimum contact with other customers. We will make every attempt to maintain the social distancing guidelines put out by the CDC.
- We are suspending all seminars, trainings, meetings and corporate travel throughout the company until the end of April. If any of the training classes can be effectively taught using video transmission we will hold the classes electronically and notify each participant.
- Last week we communicated cleaning guidelines at our distribution center and branches to help mitigate the spread of the virus. We have added additional cleaning and disinfectant procedures in our Blue Bell office as well.
- We are monitoring the situation closely to determine if we need to convert to remote service for our employees who can perform their jobs at home. This is a system that we have successfully implemented in the past during weather emergencies.
- We are staying in regular contact with our managers, supervisors and executive team to take appropriate actions as the situation continues to change.
First and foremost, the health and well-being of our employees, customers and their families remains our highest priority and we will continue to act thoughtfully as we respond to COVID-19.
This very fluid situation is rapidly evolving. As decisions are made, we will communicate all updates regarding our course of action immediately. Together, we will navigate through this issue and return to normalcy soon. Peirce-Phelps, Inc. Joins the Family of Watsco and Carrier CE HVAC Distributors!

MIAMI, July 18, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Watsco, Inc. (NYSE: WSO) announced today that it has signed an agreement to acquire the HVAC business of Peirce-Phelps, Inc. Closing of the transaction is subject to customary conditions and is expected to occur within the next 30 days. Peirce-Phelps will operate as a separate business of Carrier Enterprise, LLC, a joint venture between Watsco and Carrier Corporation. Watsco owns 80% of Carrier Enterprise and Carrier owns 20%.
Peirce-Phelps was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1926 and is one of the largest HVAC distributors in North America with current annual sales of approximately $206 million. It currently serves over 9,000 customers from 19 locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. Its product offering includes residential and commercial HVAC equipment made by Carrier as well as parts, supplies and accessories sourced from approximately 350 vendors.
